Miss Aotea

Miss Aotea
Kiaora, my name is Aotea and this is my very own diary which my daddy promised to help me with, until I can write my own words, which won't be faraway, because my daddy says I'm really clever.

I also have two brothers, Tainui and Tokomaru. We are three year old triplets.

We were named after the sea-going waka's (canoes) from the great fleet, that brought our Maori ancestors from Hawaiiki to Aotea-roa hundreds of years ago.

The aotea waka landed here at Aotea harbour the tainui waka landed at Kawhia harbour and the Tokomaru waka landed at the Mohakatino river in North Taranaki.

This diary is an extension of the Kawhia ocean beach blog my brother "Tainui" started when we were two year olds

Heres a link to some of our images and photo's of us pony and horseback riding and doing our favourite activities on the Kawhia, Aotea and Awakino ocean beaches.  My daddy is there too...sitting on a horse.

Exploring My world
Exploring the Awakino-Mokau ocean beach is what we did almost everyday while we were 2-3 year olds, unless we were walking the Kawhia ocean beach...Daddy said these ocean beachs are amongst the most beautiful landscapes in the world...No matter how many times we walk it, I never tire of the millions of natural patterns... the whirls and twirls on the sand dunes... the surging and crashing of the waves... and the screeching and squawking of the seagulls.

Our daily 10 km Ocean Beach Walk
Heres a video of my brothers and I, on our daily 10km walk along the ocean beach. Daddy said the hundreds of times we have walked and ridden the ocean beachs of Kawhia/Aotea and Mokau/Awakino, has been great for our physical/mental development and will certainly benefit us in the future. He believes that Tainui and Tokomaru could become super athletes, if they chose to be and because I'm naturally artistic, he expects me to be a really, really famous artist of some sort.

Pony Riding the Kawhia Ocean Beach
This video is of us when we first started pony riding the Kawhia Ocean Beach, which we did over 200 times before we even turned three. My daddy would put two of us on the pony and one of us in his backpack. But this was only for the first 30 days, then we got two ponies. Our big sister Brodie is in this video too.

Collecting Kai Moana (sea food) - 5/03/07
This video is where we collect our kai moana (seafood) from crayfish reef...This is one of my most favourite places...There are millions and millions of mussels and dad usually goes diving for crayfish, kina and paua...and also the biggest starfish in the world live there too.

Daddy's on Holiday from us Kids

Daddy said he has to help our uncle Grant do some maintenance on the "Lady Kawhia" so for the first time since we were born, he's leaving us for a few days.

The "Lady Kawhia" is a massive 66 passenger, ex-blueboat ferry from Auckland, that daddy used to manage and skipper, until mum found it very difficult to look after us kids when we were babies, so dad let go of his business to take over caring for us, while mummy went off to Auckland to study what she was truly passionate about...computor engineering...she is now a computor expert.

New Management for Lady Kawhia
Our uncle Grant has now taken over the management of the "Lady Kawhia", which daddy is so pleased about. He says she is such a grand boat and deserves the impeccable care that his brother will bestow on her.

Aotea Art and Paintings
I loved these paintings so much, I wanted to put them on my website....They are from my daddy's friend "Mal" who lives on the waterfront in Aotea ....Daddy says he's a really gifted artist who will be really famous for his art oneday.

...And this is of a pony I really really love...

Here are some images of wild horses running free

The Secret:
Daddys been watching a dvd called "The Secret" which explains the Law of Attraction...He said he needs this knowledge if we are to achieve our goal of traveling the world and doing some of the things we've been wanting...like riding elephants through the jungle, crossing the desert by camel, kayaking the Amazon river, hiking the Great Wall of China and climbing the mountains of Tibet, to name a few.

Daddy said whatever I can concieve, I can achieve...If I really wanted it.

My Little Wild Kaimanawa Pony
This video is of me, missy Aotea, riding my little wild Kaimanawa pony my daddy trained for me...This was my first ride on her, only 3 days after we first got our ponies delivered to the farm we were living on at Waingaro...Tainui's "wild horse" is also on the video, along with "Sawadee", daddys horse and all our little wild goats that daddy caught for us out of the bush.

Trapping Wild Pigs
This video is about a really, wild, wild pig daddy caught in our pig trap at our farm...They always come out of the neighboring forest and dig up all the ground on our farm, so daddy catchs them and puts them in the hangi.

And here is another video of us pighunting with our fearless dog and horse...We caught three pigs with our swords from the $2 shop...

Maketu Marae - Kawhia
The following video is of us kids and daddy at Maketu marae in Kawhia. Our aunty Joe passed away, so we went to her tangi (funeral). Maketu marae has been at the same location since our tribe, Tainui arrived their about 750 years ago.

In the video, my brother Tainui is standing beside the rocks marking where the Tainui waka (canoe) is buried.

Its FATHERS DAY - 2/09/07

Its fathers day today and the Sunday Star times, who interviewed dad a couple of days ago, wrote an article in their newspaper about us...Dad said its kinda cool to be recognised for the tough challenge it has been to raise us kids...You can read the article here...

Daddy loves this following video. He says it reflects the creative potential all kids have

Our little Shetland pony had a newborn foal...The sire was a minature Shetland, so dad said she's going to be smaller than her mom...Here's a video of her.
